Craig Engels, representing Nike, produced the fastest semifinal time in the men's 1,500 meters by clocking 3:38.56 to lead all qualifiers into the final at the United States Olympic Team Trials at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Engels led six athletes under 3:39, with 2016 Trials champion Matthew Centrowitz clocking 3:42.96 to win his semifinal and return to the final.
